2WD are Crazy Critters

Over the last four weeks 2WD have been practising the readers theatre 'Crazy Critters'. Last Friday we made invitations for our mums and dads and today we performed it at assembly. There was some nerves and jitters before the performance but in the end it was a HUGE success!
For those parents who missed the performance here's a little taste.

The Potato Olympics

Last Friday we did The Potato Olympics. My potato was round and yellow, it's best friend was Chloe, it's favourite sport is running. My potato had to do the hammer throw, long jump, high jump, diving, closest to a metre and unifix block weightlifting. Hayden got his potato stuck in the tree when he was doing the hammer throw. Mrs.Arnold tried to get it down but she couldn't. I liked doing the high jump. You had to put the potato on the end of a ruler and stamp your feet and make it fly into the air. When i did the diving my potato came out of the icecream container. I tried my best with the hammer throw, I didn't get very far though, i got 7 metres. My potato was very close to a metre and my potato weighed 40 unifix blocks. At the end of The Potato Olympics my potato was very sore after all the events she did.

Shakespeare's Heroes

This week 2WD was busy practising and building props for our Reader's Theatre performances. There were three plays we worked on with the guidance of Mrs. Davies, Janene and Miss. Marion, our student teacher. Our first play had a mother and daughter being chased by bad guys, thrown out of a plane and almost swallowed by a serpent! Our second play had three children trying to build a house strong enough to stand up to the powerful Earthquake God. Our final play had four little penguins trying to escape from being taken by nasty hunters. The performaces were a great success and we had a wonderful audience of the grade one and two classes. Here is a look at our performances.

Making gliders

As part of our science studies this term 2WD made some gliders. The gliders worked well and the kids loved seeing who's glider could go the furtherest.

Solving a crime in 2WD

Last Thursday and Friday 2WD were hot on the case of some tough criminals. We had to create a set of clues and discover who the criminal is. Students worked very well together and using a police line up solved the case. Some of the criminals were Mugsy, Spike, Benny, Fingers and Lefty.
